Have you noticed that when you’re hungry concentration goes out the window as well as your spelling? It’s a very common problem, particularly in office workers, and Snickers have found a way to capitalise on this through its search engine campaigns.

The idea was to target office workers who misspelled common words, eg. Buisness, and instead of bringing up the search result they were looking for it would bring up, taking you straight to a page advertising snickers.

This idea is genius as not only is it a great way to target your hungry audience, but as most office workers are unable to see the usual viral and social ads due to blocking from the IT department, they were still able to advertise to them.

To do this, snickers bought over 25000 misspelled search terms including fortunately, tendancy, acidentaly, and many more, and sat back waiting for those hungry office workers to make a typo and click on their site.

Through the campaign Snickers claim to have reached over 500,00 people, all in all making it a very successful online marketing campaign.
